Full Moon in Taurus

Early Friday morning we experience a full moon in Taurus as well as the longest lunar eclipse in 100 years. The full moon is generally a time when what has recently come to fruition or been fulfilled is being highlighted, and as this full moon is in Taurus, the energy is pointed towards stability, self-worth, finance, indulgence and foundations as well as whatever house in your chart Taurus governs (easily found out on astro.com if you have your birth information). However, with the eclipse energetically blocking some of that light, for the next few days we are prompted to look at the deeper, unconscious patterns that have a helped sway our mindsets around the types of Taurus energy mentioned above.

Taurus is such a beautiful sign. Ruled by Venus, Taurus has all the qualities of Renaissance painting; you know the type - curvy women lounging on silks and velvets while being fed grapes by a creepy, naked cherub (the creepy part is not at all associated with Taurus, it’s just my own, correct opinion). Or, to be more on the nose, Botticelli’s Venus On The Half Shell. Taurus loves luxury, and really knows how to appreciate tastes, scents and textures as well as an uber cozy home.

Taurus also rules the 2nd House in the astrological chart. The 2nd house is where we find our relationship to money, what we feel gives us stability and a sense of a strong foundation, as well as self-worth. Since this moon is in Taurus, many of the 2nd House traits are coming up for us to look at in a complete way - aka where we thrive in these areas and where, perhaps, we struggle.

Some questions to consider could be: What can I take pride in creating for myself when it comes to my self-worth, my finances and my stability? If I’m not where I’d like to be, how and where have I been overly-indulgent in a way that has kept me from those goals, AND what drives that behavior? Can I find comfort in my own body as my first foundation and home? If not, what are the origins of my stories around not being enough?

I know it can be scary to honestly dive into these questions because the only honest answers are ones that require us to take full responsibility for our predicament, whether that be one we like or not. The good news is that this full moon is in harmonious aspect with the planet Pluto, which is all about going into the darkest parts of our consciousness in the name of transformation.

Pluto also represents power, and as it is aspected to (in relationship with) the moon we might have to come head to head with our emotional relationship to power (both internal and external), as well as how and where we have grabbed at power or how we may have given it away. Where are you trying to control what is not yours to control? Where are you giving away control when really it is no one else’s responsibility but your own?

Take advantage of this full moon eclipse so real comfort and stability can grow.
