New Moon in Aries

On the morning of March 21, 2023, we experienced a New Moon in Aries closely tied to the planets of communication and the mind (Mercury), and highest visions and connection to the Divine (Neptune). Add in Pluto moving into Aquarius on March 23, and what you get is THE new beginning of new beginnings — a time to contemplate deeply and to expand our dreams of what our world could look like. It is a time to figure out the capacity in which each of us is meant to lead.

Aries in its most underdeveloped form is the tyrant, but evolved Aries is the benific, exuberant leader marching in the name of justice for all those who have been bullied and cast aside. As Pluto moves into Aquarius, it is a move from power to the establishment to power to the people. Pluto, however, can also cause great destruction. If we do not hold firmly to our highest values — to our highest truths — Pluto’s power will destroy our sense of community, fracture our unity, and tear us down from the inside out.

In meditating on the message of this moment in time, I asked the Divine what I was meant to share, and what Spirit brought through was the obstacle of Denial.
If we are in Denial about our desires, our fears, the state of our world, the collapse of our ecosystems, the inequity that persists, the growing gap between the “haves” and the “have-nots”, or even that we each have some way to lead (however quiet or immaterial that may be), real change is not possible.
Stepping out of denial is terrifying because it requires that you try to really see how things are rather than how you are pretending them to be. Staying in Denial, however, is far far more painful.
Denial is so excruciating not only because we’re hiding from something on the material plane (the plane of embodied existence), but also because any type of untruth is categorically at odds with the nature of the soul. The nature of the soul is to illuminate. It is self-illumined. The nature of denial is to confuse and obscure. It is an attack on the psyche, the soul.

I asked what energies we need to call on in order to cultivate true authentic alignment, and what came through were the energies of the Village, the Vow, the Forest, and the Mother.
Look at your Village (community) to see if authenticity and integrity are held as two of its highest values. Is your environment conducive to growth, or is it an environment of keeping up status and appearance?
Make a Vow of living out truthfulness and clarity, wherever that may lead you. Invoke your ancestors and guides to help you see Truth as part of your eternal essence. Ask them for strength as breaking this vow can lead to complexity and heartbreak.
Enter the Forest of your psyche — mystical, scary, enchanted and unknown. The Forest is a place of stillness and silence. It allows you to hear the call of your own wild, untamed, most natural heart.
Remember the Mother. The one who is all around you. The one who offers the nurturing embrace of eternal Love. See her in every part of nature. Hear her in every single sound. Feel her in the rain, the wind, the warmth of the Sun. Remember Her as the ground you walk on that will never truly fall away. Remember that you are always in her arms.

Under this Aries New Moon, remind yourself and others that the nature of your heart is one of courage. We can do “impossible” things.
